THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED e3rd Steakhouse & Lounge Restaurant Review:
A venture of innovative restaurateur Jason Ha, whose neighboring Zip Fusion pioneered the dining scene in the fledgling Arts District, e3rd offers some of Zip’s signature appetizers, along with a wide selection of steaks and more. Start with spicy pork wrapped in rice paper, seared ahi with orange-miso vinaigrette or the apple-shaped “alba-cado” (seared albacore wrapped in avocado and drizzled with eel sauce---a dish that is both aesthetically striking and delicious). The well-priced steaks (all in the teens or twenties) include sliced rib-eye marinated in Asian pear and honey and served sizzling, an eight-ounce filet mignon, or 13-ounce USDA Prime rib-eye. Spicy baby-back pork ribs, pastas and a zesty kimchee burger round out a menu far more diverse than what you'd find in a traditional steakhouse. Like Zip Fusion, the setting at e3rd is hip, urban and edgy---sleek ebony tables, minimalist art, plasma screens above a long bar, neon backlighting---suiting the neighborhood and its artsy crowd. With its competitive pricing, fun Korean-inspired menu and Ha’s accommodating staff, this is a welcome option on the Eastern border of downtown L.A.
