THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Earth & Ocean Restaurant Review: Housed in the trendy W hotel, Earth & Ocean serves New American fare in a cool setting. Since chef Adam Stevenson’s departure, executive sous chef Benjamin Closson has assumed leadership of the kitchen. The menu still features seasonal, local products, as well as an impressive offering of artisan cheeses and charcuterie. Start with the aforementioned selection of terrines, paté and sausages or the butternut squash soup with Dungeness crab, bacon and apple. Entrées may include duck leg confit, pork and ricotta ravioli, and striped bass with chanterelles, Brussels sprouts, and lentils. The global wine list is a testament to the work of a skillful sommelier. For dessert, you’ll find such whimsies as rosewater-cardamom panna cotta and carrot pain perdue with caramelized pineapple, cream cheese gelato and coconut syrup.
