Eat-pisode Restaurant is one of our 2012

Perhaps trying to stand out in a neighborhood that has become flooded with Thai eateries, this Lower East Side restaurant boasts a big sign with a four-letter acronym on it: B.Y.O.B. And it seems to work. The small, L-shaped room is perpetually packed, even if the name of the restaurant doesn’t exactly inspire hunger. The food, meanwhile, doesn’t inspire much confidence, either. The crunchy rice---six Rice Krispies treat-like squares with a side of peanut sauce---is inventive, but settles in the stomach like a brick. The barbecued chicken is cut-with-a-fork tender but as bland as English pub food. The mix of seafood and veggies in a chili sauce is billed as spicy, but hardly tingles a taste bud. Eat-pisode is reasonably priced and the offerings from the kitchen are both ho-hum and adequate, but the neighborhood has a lot of better Thai options. Plenty of them.
