Star chef Joachim Splichal’s Patina Group has reinvented the space formerly occupied by Pinot Hollywood into a slick urban bistro where an intimate dining room dressed in calming shades of slate and beige is complemented by its predecessor’s beloved patio covered in fairy lights. Both indoors and out, the setting forms a smart background for a menu that features seasonal cuisine rich in artisan ingredients---plus one of the city’s most creative cocktail menus. Try the sautéed tiger prawns or grilled artichoke with chili butter. For heartier appetites, there’s Atlantic salmon with glazed baby turnips and herbed ricotta gnocchi. A separate lounge boasts sleek sofas and a roaring (albeit gas) fireplace. The lounge, called---what else?---lounge. on sunset, offers a sophisticated twist on bar food with a menu of snack-sized grilled cheese, braised boneless chicken wings and even foie gras torchons.
