| Who says you can't get good fish in the middle of the desert? At Eddie V's, fish and shellfish are flown in fresh daily from all over the world and prepared in subtle but sophisticated ways. There is an emphasis on Gulf Coast seafood (the plump, zingy oysters are proof), and dishes may have a French, Asian or all-American emphasis. If money's no object, begin with the sampler platter featuring rock shrimp fritters, lump crab cake and cold water lobster tail. Then move on to specialties such as Parmesan-crusted sole or macadamia-crusted butterfish with Thai curry. Dark wood, white tablecloths and roomy black booths give this place the masculine good looks of a steakhouse. And in steakhouse fashion, the menu is à la carte, so side dishes are extra. But much of your meal is shareable: this kitchen doesn't know the meaning of small portions. Meanwhile, the lounge offers a happy hour that includes live jazz as well as discounted drinks and appetizers. From food to mood, Eddie V's has got it going on. |
