El Boqueron Tapas Bar & Restaurant Restaurant Review

: Situated underneath an elevated subway line, this living room-size Spanish cuisine and tapas restaurant is a simple, old-world hideaway in a sea of chic and trendy establishments. A combination of white tableclothed and mosaic-tile tabletops, dim lighting and a small wood bar define the setting at this quiet restaurant. The traditional menu consists of a wide range of tapas, including tender sautéed calamari simply flavored with lemon, olive oil and garlic, and sautéed jumbo shrimp cooked in an iron skillet; both are authentically prepared. Not surprisingly, entrées feature several paellas, among other traditional Spanish seafood and meat dishes; the seafood paella best showcases the restaurant's cooking. Wine selections complement the dishes, so feel free to ask the waitstaff for the best pairing.
