| El Callejon features authentic Mexican flavors in a sociable, relaxed atmosphere that’s filled with families, friends and couples, young and old alike. We like the quesadillas filled with a mix of molten cheese, smashed potato and chopped chorizo. The taco choices are many, ranging from pork loin and red snapper to flavorful carne asada and pollo. The chicken mole is complex and as good as any found in San Diego. Stews range from a classic chicken caldo to a richly flavored tortilla soup sprinkled with crushed dried chilies. All of these choices taste even better when enjoyed with one of the margaritas made with fresh limes and spiked with a fine tequila from the expansive list. The fresh, piquant chipotle or the potent cilantro add zing to myriad dishes. Traditional music on the weekends enlivens the packed house. |
