THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED El Dorado Restaurant Review:
Theres something about this place thats reminiscent of a Disneyland ride. Perhaps its the detailed LA hipster-meets-Mexicali décor complete with an elevated bar and a hidden back room, the cheerful cacophony of chatter and plate clatter or maybe its simply the constant pulse of energy the entire place seems to emanate. Whatever it is, it has brought nightlife to Brentwood and along with it, some pretty accurate renditions of Mexican cuisine. John Sedlar, of former Saint Estephe and Bikini fame, makes an appearance as the new tamale bar chef-consultant. In addition to tamales and other usual suspects like tacos, tortilla soup and overstuffed pasilla chili rellenos, the menu offers slow roasted pork medallions (served with a tangy molecagate sauce) so tender you can cut them with a fork. Other standouts include the sautéed red snapper with cilantro and onions as well as a zesty seafood ceviche served in a Brentwood-chic martini glass. But the bar selection is the restaurants true shining star. With more tequilas than you could care to count as well as about half a dozen variations on the margarita, El Dorado makes the drink selection more complex than choosing a meal. But be warned, the clamorous bar scene could easily overwhelm quiet diners. For a more intimate experience, be sure to request one of the booths at the back of the restaurant.
