 The name deceives. In this routinely packed West Hartford eatery, there isn't much elbow room at all. That's because it serves some of the best, fairest-priced comfort food in town: Caesar salads, fried oysters, pot roast with mashed potatoes, extra-cheesy macaroni---and, of course, a great burger, oozing from a toasted Kaiser roll with caramelized onions. Mind you, the menu isn't free of more adventurous concoctions, from buffalo oysters to pan-seared scallops with lemon grass-ginger beurre blanc atop sweet pea-infused mashed potatoes. But we return again and again for old favorites like the cornmeal-crusted chicken with pan gravy. Besides, we never know when playfully retro specials like iceberg wedges will pop up. Better yet, on a summer's day, there's no better place to mingle than on The Elbow Room's rooftop deck.
