Emily Restaurant Review

: This Clinton Hill Italian eatery has been popular since it first fired up its pizza oven in early 2014. There are a dozen or so tables and a long bar at which diners can partially overlook the pizza-making process. Seasonal vegetables highlight the appetizers; the inevitable kale salad and roasted Brussels sprouts are there, of course. Pie selections come in red (meaning the sauce) and white (no sauce). Of the two, the sauce-less pizza bianca versions are the best. In fact, while Emily may be more of a pizzeria than full-blown Italian restaurant, the pasta dishes happen to trump the pizza. Bucatini all’ amatriciana (tomato sauce and guanciale with thick, long noodles) is Rome trattoria-like in its quality. Duck ragù with trumpets pasta is so good you’ll want some bread to mop up the sauce (too bad the place doesn’t offer bread, not even when asked). The wine list bounces around from California to Italy and has some refreshingly affordable options.
