THIS RESTAURANT IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED Empire Steak House Restaurant Review:
Though the name might suggest magnitude, this Midtown restaurant can be a relatively sedate affair. Part of the Ben & Jack’s team of steakhouses, Empire doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel. The menu is straightforward offering few surprises, which is by design. The usual cuts of meat are available, including a good thick-cut rib-eye and nice lamb chops. For the non red meat eater, Empire does a fair job with salmon, grilled tuna and Chilean sea bass. Sides, in compliance with tradition, stick to classic steakhouse offerings: creamed spinach, onion rings, baked potato and steak fries. The wine list skews toward California and the decent house wines are included in the by-the-glass selections.
