THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Encino Garden Grill Restaurant Review: Encino’s wine list is the key to navigating this handmade-looking operation with an oak-shaded patio. In fact, looking first at said list should give even the most sophisticated of diners a leg-up in choosing both wine and friendly food. The pork chop and the mushroom burger are recommended with an Argentine Malbec; duck is the proposed partner with South Africa’s Goats do Roam red; and escargots or crab cakes are the suggestion with a Mark West Chardonnay. Clearly the clue is this: wine first, food second. Pork tenderloin pizza with chipotle barbecue sauce, caramelized onions and mozzarella nevertheless might pose a challenge to any wine (though we might suggest a Riesling). And we agree that a Spanish rosé would make magic with tuna in taco or tartare form. Desserts run the gamut from apple pie to an Asian pear crème brûlée.
