| THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES TO OTTO ENOTECA PIZZERIA. Located in the faux outdoors of Piazza San Marco in the Grand Canal Shoppes, Enoteca San Marco’s “sidewalk” patio seating is a perfect spot to perch and people-watch---take in the occasional performances by wandering minstrels, musicians and opera singers while you dine. Forget about Vegas and pretend you’re in Venice, and order either a quartino or bottle of wine and an assortment of appetizers in true Italian style. The antipasti run the gamut here from lightly fried arancine to simple slices of Salumi salami and house-sliced prosciutto di Parma to the asparagus due uova. A combination of any (or all) of the above makes for a lovely snack, but for a more substantial bite, the pizza or pasta should satisfy any craving. The single-serving pizzas are definitely enough for two, and the chewy, griddled thin crust has even New Yorkers nodding in approval. Toppings range from clams and pepperoncini to the standard sausage and sweet peppers, but a nice standout is the thinly sliced and pleasantly salty prosciutto paired with peppery arugula. Even if it’s not really outdoors, the summery environment makes their coppette---scoops of gelato with sundae-like toppings---totally appropriate. The chocolate croccante features a creamy chocolate malt gelato with toasted almond ice milk and a few pieces of chocolate-almond crunch bark. Paired with an espresso, this successfully completes the illusion of dining in Italy, Vegas-style. |
