THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES Eric Ericsson's on the Pier Restaurant Review:
Tourists crowd the outdoor tables to get a better look at surfers sliding through the inside of Ventura Point. The main dining room offers a view, too, but it’s limited. It seems that tourists who’ve been walking the pier and breathing sea air all day have a better dining experience than residents who drive over just for dinner. Service and food quality tend to be inconsistent. Choose your protein from a list that includes local favorites like white sea bass, as well as Hawaiian wahoo, chicken and flat-iron steak; then pick your preparation: a chopped salad, sandwich, tacos, pasta, battered and fried. Or build your own chilled platter with offerings such as smoked salmon, ceviche and oysters on the half shell. Decidedly average desserts --- think lemon bars, cheesecake and a carrot cake with pineapple and cream cheese frosting --- match the rest of the menu. If you don’t want to commit to a full meal, head upstairs for cocktails, sliders and simple steamers, not to mention the best view in town. Or stay outdoors and pick up a couple fish tacos at the Beach House Taco Hut, a casual offshoot of the main restaurant located next door.
