 Erling Jensen Restaurant Review: From the fine dining ambience to the seasonal menu of extravagant cuisine (think Guadalupe Mountain elk chop with apple braised cabbage), luxury abounds at Danish-born, classically trained chef Erling Jensen’s East Memphis restaurant. Salads are given gourmet flair with honey-pepper Benton’s bacon and lemon caper rémoulade; and seafood gets equal treatment, with such dishes as macadamia-crusted grouper with curried crab risotto. There’s a bar menu for those looking for a more affordable (but still just as fancy) snack --- consider the petit Cantal cheese with andouille sausage. Save room for desserts like the chocolate soufflé with Maker’s Mark crème anglaise. Erling Jensen has, perhaps, the best wine list in town with a number of fine vintages offered by the glass and a massive selection of wines by the bottle. Service is informed and gracious, but not always flawless. |
