Ernest Coffee Restaurant Review:

The orange torches out in front of this coffeehouse are relics from the Palm Springs branch of Don the Beachcomber that occupied the building from the 1950s through the '80s. Those restored torches form the logo for Ernest Coffee, which is named after Don the Beachcomber's true moniker: Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt. The industrial design features concrete and reclaimed wood contrasting with bright red and silver metal chairs. Along the wall opposite the coffee bar is a gray raised banquette and a library of faux book shelves. A patio runs along West Via Lola Street towards sister establishment Bootlegger Tiki. Ernest serves up Stumptown Coffee along with wine, mimosas with fresh orange juice and bottled craft beers. Enjoy pastries in the morning or a cheese and charcuterie platter in the afternoon.
