THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ernie Ladd's Big Cat Throw-Down BBQ Restaurant Review:
HURRICANE KATRINA: this establishment is currently closed. For a New Orleans Travel Update as well as resources, information and help click here. A former walk-up window for sno-balls and sweets directly across from the Orleans Parish courthouse, this is certainly the most productive barbecue shed in the metro area. Twice a day employees slow-smoke pork shoulder, beef brisket, pork ribs, whole chickens, and sausage over pecan wood; they use the technique of part-owner and domestic pitmaster Ernie Ladd, who was once a professional football player with the Kansas City Chiefs and wrestler with the WWF. The meats are all convincingly smoky, but not too, and the house sauce strikes a pleasant balance between sweet and vinegary. Open until 7 p.m.
