Swiss Haus still serves the real-deal fondue and osso buco of its predecessor, Swiss Inn. When chef Martin Wyss threw in the towel in 2000, Freddy Halmes, former pastry chef at the Hawaiian Regent, bought the place. To the relief of fans, he’s pretty much preserved the Swiss scene. Friendly, warm, consistent and reasonably priced, Halmes continues the dining room’s tradition of hospitality. The popular brunch is more jammed than ever now that it happens only the first Sunday of each month. Halmes needs more time for his marathon running.
