: Breakfast starts the day at Evans Fine Foods, beginning at 5:30 a.m. Neither gourmet nor health-conscious considerations have affected this menu since its founding in 1946, however. Corned beef hash may be topped with a poached egg, and the kitchen knows exactly how to do them. A single fluffy but substantial pancake fills the well of a huge dinner plate. The grits are "quick" grits, so they have a respectable flavor. For dinner or supper, as lunch and dinner are known in the South, choose from baked chicken with dressing, roast pork beneath rich gravy, grilled salmon filets or fresh flounder, or meatloaf. There are daily changing specials: for instance, Tuesday is chicken pan pie, another of the Upland South's classic home-style dishes. Cabbage, turnip greens and green beans are especially good. For dessert, go with apple pie with ice cream or warm fruit cobbler. No alcohol.

Been eating here for 25 years !!!!

:D I have been eating at Evans for 25 years. The staff is friendly and the food is great for this type of restaurant. I eat breakfast here 3 times a week and Lunch at least 2 times. There are two brothers that own the place, which (I believe) they took over from their father. You can tell that they are dedicated to there business and love to please customers. I have witnessed the brothers helping customers many times, from getting to their cars to carrying food to them. You have to try the pancakes for breakfast and the Greek omelet is to die for!!!!! The meatloaf with Creole sauce is my favorite lunch item. The vegetables are tasty and you can tell they are cooked with care. The steamed cabbage and the collard greens are out of this world. I hope to eat at Evans for another 25 years. Keep up the good work guys!!!!!!
