Chef Fabio Flagiello has left the sleepy comfort of Hermosa Beach, where he owned Fabio Trattoria, for the excitement and higher rent of Venice. He’s got a huge patio at his new hot spot (it seats about 50) and plenty of mouths to fill it, since his new home is quite popular. And Flagiello is a crowd pleaser with such starters as warm goat cheese served with baby frisee lettuce, Granny Smith apples and fresh figs or potato dumplings stuffed with cranberry, roasted duck meat ragout, brown butter and sage; entrées like pan-roasted beef tenderloin wrapped with smoked prosciutto and served with porcini sauce or house-made ravioli filled with ricotta and spinach served over asparagus suace and drizzled with white truffle oil.
