You don’t have to be Irish and you don’t have to drink stout to fall in love with this Chinatown Irish pub. The floors are rough-hewn stone befitting a medieval castle, and the wooden tables and benches are reminiscent of a farmer’s cottage. It can be so busy at lunchtime that reservations are in order. For a truly Irish repast, consider the signature dish, the boxty, a potato pancake stuffed and rolled with a filling. The chef has created three versions of the dish: corned beef; chicken and shrimp; and Gaelic steak. All day you can order the Irish breakfast: two eggs, Irish sausages, rashers, black-and-white puddings, mushrooms and homemade brown bread. Desserts include brown bread ice cream and a harvest bread pudding. The main draw here is the wooden bar with its convivial crowds.
