FareStart Restaurant Review: Founded as a non-profit organization with the singular mission of training formerly-homeless persons for jobs in the food industry, Farestart offers three-course dinners every Thursday for less than $25. The food is prepared and served by Farestart's students with guidance from well-known Seattle-based guest chefs. The dining room's soaring ceilings, trendy décor, and tastefully presented dishes give no clues that you're supporting a professional training program. The lunch menu includes turkey sandwiches, burgers and fish ‘n’ chips, as well as more interesting items such as a seared halibut special and a hazelnut-encrusted lentil-sage patty sandwiched between slices of soft potato bread spread with fig mayonnaise and Dijon mustard. Service is friendly and efficient. |
