FareStart Restaurant Review: Founded in 1988 when chef David Lee saw a need to provide meals for Seattle's homeless as well as offer professional food service career training, Farestart's dining room now offers three-course dinners every Thursday for less than $25. The food is prepared and served by Farestart's students with guidance from well-known Seattle-area guest chefs. Trendy décor, the dining room's soaring ceilings, and the tastefully presented dishes give no clues that you're supporting a professional training program. The lunch menu includes turkey sandwiches, burgers, and fish ‘n’ chips, as well as more intriguing items such as a seared halibut special and a hazelnut-encrusted lentil-sage patty sandwiched between slices of soft potato bread spread with fig mayonnaise and Dijon mustard. Service is friendly and efficient.
