| This popular Beverly Hills spot features a casual farmhouse décor and a terrific sidewalk café, a perfect spot if you're dining with your dog in tow (and lots of regulars do). We love the rustic olive, rosemary and multigrain breads, but so far we haven't been crazy about the food. Prices run high for the simple salads, pastas, grilled fish and meat dishes on the menu. However, the fare is wide-ranging, offering down-home classics like fried chicken, turkey meatloaf and barbecued ribs, as well as California-Pacific-inspired entrées such as grilled swordfish with ponzu sauce, and black and white sesame-crusted salmon with three sauces (wasabi, miso-honey-mustard and orange-hoisin). On one visit the Caesar salad was ho-hum, but the cheeseburger was a boffo-smash hit: a thick beef patty topped with oven-roasted tomatoes, caramelized onions and arugula. The Farm's hearty old-fashioned breakfasts are always enjoyable and we have to admit that its heavily-promoted brownies are among the best we've ever tasted. |
