: Husband and wife proprietors Alex Mosavi and Sylvie Gabriele deliver hearty “Urban Country Food” to a quaint stretch of El Segundo. The funky setting features vibrant photos of barns and fruit, an enchanting light-strung courtyard, and black-and-white Holstein-patterned seats. The compact menu lists an intriguing blend of Italian, Persian and American dishes. Start with the trio of dips: Kalamata-crowned hummus, smoky roasted eggplant and walnut-sprinkled tzatziki, served with warm pita triangles. Farm Stand offers a niçoise salad and a slab of meatloaf glazed with veal reduction, but the more compelling dishes are Persian. A rich pomegranate and walnut stew blankets tender chicken breast chunks, and lamb shank is paired with a lima bean and baby dill pilaf. For Italian lovers, there’s a short list of pastas, including a meaty lasagna and pumpkin ravioli with basil cream sauce. At lunch, there are three sandwiches---caprese, chicken breast and meatloaf---plus half-portions of dinner entrées. To drink, expect a well-balanced wine list and fresh sour cherry lemonade. “Sweet Endings,” when they don’t sell out, are highlighted by pistachio tiramisu and a decadent ginger-pear cheesecake.
