Farrago World Cuisine Restaurant Review: Farrago attempts to bring the world stage to the home front, offering an international menu. Sometimes the modern food goes too far; other times it's quite good. The menu boasts everything from a California-inspired portobello mushroom burger to a hummus-and-tabbouleh combo from the Middle East. One of the best starters is curried mussels, enhanced by a side of garlic bread. Innovative pizzas are also solid --- try the jerked version with Canadian bacon and mango. Salads include a garlicky Caesar topped with pesto-grilled shrimp, and a Vietnamese salad with glass noodles. The grilled salmon --- a tower of sweet potato purée, fresh greens and fish, with a colorful salsa of nectarines and sun-dried tomatoes --- is a Farrago specialty. Drop in early on the weekdays for breakfast tacos or stuffed french toast, or join the hordes on the weekends craving the mimosas and brunch pizzas. The front dining area with a busy bar scene gives way to a larger dining area overlooking the apartment courtyard and pool. |
