Fat City Cafe Restaurant Review: Multnomah Village may be a hike from center city, but it has a unique lively energy, and is a charming throwback to the past. The same can be said for Fat City Cafe. Before poking through the area’s eclectic shops, load up on some carbs and calories at this old-fashioned place with a colorful local history of its own. A plaque next to one of the turquoise vinyl booths commemorates the day Portland's mayor fired the police chief on that very spot. License plates from all the states decorate the walls. Food-wise, portions are huge, and that goes for the gooey homemade cinnamon rolls. Pancakes studded with blueberries and crispy hash browns are mighty good, too. The chocolate milk shake will easily fuel a riotous shopping frenzy, especially when paired with a pepper cheesesteak. Always worth considering are the daily specials. |
