Fat City Cafe Restaurant Review: After wandering through the Multnomah Village area’s eclectic shops, load up on some carbs and calories at this old-fashioned place with a colorful local history of its own. A plaque next to one of the turquoise vinyl booths commemorates the day Portland's mayor fired the police chief on that very spot. License plates from all the states decorate the walls. Food-wise, portions are huge, and this goes for the homemade cinnamon rolls. Pancakes studded with blueberries and crispy hash browns are also mighty good. The chocolate milk shake will easily fuel a riotous shopping frenzy, especially when paired with a chicken-fried steak and/or biscuits with thick white gravy. Standard diner drinks are offered, and desserts range from pie to pudding.
