THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Fifth & Hawthorn Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED You know where it is---to be precise, Fifth Avenue and Hawthorn Street is in the heart of a quiet downtown neighborhood poised to take off in the next wave of San Diego redevelopment. As for why youd want to go there, this long-running restaurant has drawn fans with its simple, carefully prepared menu and welcoming service. The food is good, not great, but its hard to resist the $49.95 dinner for two that includes a shared appetizer, a choice of entrées, a shared dessert and a bottle of drinkable wine. Pastas are a good choice, and you cant go wrong with one of the fresh fish of the day. This restaurant is a popular with holders of tickets to performances at the Old Globe Theatre in nearby Balboa Park. Let the staff know that you have a curtain to make and your food will arrive like clockwork.
