Fifth Season Restaurant Review: Formerly a hotspot in Greenport, Fifth Season is now a homey two-story restaurant in Port Jefferson Village. Chef-owners John Urbinati and Erik Orlowski pride themselves on providing a dining experience featuring farm-raised meats and organic produce. In keeping with the restaurant’s name, the menu changes every 12 weeks, and the quality of the food encourages return visits to enjoy the eclectic offerings. Soups and a crisp Caesar salad are mainstay appetizers, but try the baked Beau Soleil oysters with fennel, spinach and grana padano for an interesting play on what’s usually served raw. Oven-roasted filet mignon with asparagus, pommes Anna and caramelized shallot butter is a fine take on comfort food. Desserts abound, but we recommend the vanilla bean crème brûlée and pineapple upside-down cake with toasted coconut and coconut gelato. The bar has its own small menu that includes Kobe beef sliders, several sandwiches and fresh baked pretzel sticks. Cocktails range from a strawberry mojito to a plum margarita. There are local tap beers and a variety by the bottle. Local wines are a highlight, with special by-the-glass selections to complement the menu.
