Chef-owner Marty Rogak (formerly of Karizma in Skokie) has found his niche in Winnetka. He has fashioned a menu that blends contemporary American with classic French, and it is very eater-friendly. The dining room, with its high ceilings, brick walls and fireplace, has a lot of charm. Comfortable seating, also, with tables nicely spaced. The lunch menu is as interesting as the dinner menu. Sandwiches, salads, pasta, four entrées. The grilled steak sandwich is exceptional; as is the salmon burger (the caper-Dijon spread really makes this burger come alive). The wine list features a decent range of French and California wines at fair prices. Service is informed and efficient. High quality, creativity and reasonable prices all come together quite nicely, making Fio a force to be dealt with on the North Shore.
