Fire Food & Drink Restaurant Review: A hip, urban feel and a menu of American fare distinguish chef-owner Douglas Katz's bistro in the historic Shaker Square shopping district. Inside the modern dining room, exposed ductwork, bare wood floors, stainless steel and wood seating and white paper-covered tables set the scene for the minimalist menu design that follows suit. We suggest starting with the seasonal squash blossoms or the 18-hour pork served with crispy black beans. Cooked in rustic brick or tandoori ovens, entrées include whole roasted fish, crispy duck confit, succulent lamb kebabs and a grass-fed rib-eye. For dessert, don’t miss the strawberry-rhubarb crisp or the popcorn ice cream sundae. The wine list is well-crafted, with vinos hailing from all over the globe, while the cocktail menu is equally interesting and carefully composed, with a dedicated dessert section featuring a handful of ports and sweet ice wines to further tempt. Sunday brunch is one of Cleveland’s best---try the house-made sticky or almond-stuffed french toast.
