Brooklyn-born Shelly Fireman periodically changes his concept for this awkward but big subterranean space, but seems to have hit upon a winner. Picking popular dishes from his other eateries such as Shelly’s of New York, Brooklyn Diner and Redeye Grill, he pushes popular palate buttons in this old-fashioned seafood spot. Begin with a bowl of home-style chicken soup or New England clam chowder. For your main course, choose among such specialties as seared salmon with sweet baby peas and roasted peppers or lobster drowned in butter. There are plenty of choices for the land lover, too, like prime steak, filet mignon and chicken potpie. Don’t miss out on a slice of the heavenly strawberry-blonde cheesecake or banana cream or lemon pies.
