With what may be one of the best oceanfront views on the beach, the First Street Grille combines a distinctive setting with an inventive menu. You'll recognize most of the dishes: sautéed shrimp, grilled mahi mahi and Key lime pie, but what sets them apart from other restaurant fare is the way the chef adds his own special flair to each. For example, the shrimp cheddar cheese grits aren't just grits and cheese; they're topped with a wasabi aïoli. And the bananas Foster has a bit of citrus juice thrown into the pan, adding a hint of Florida's finest. The glassed-in back porch boasts a lively happy hour crowd. But do drop by soon. The owners finally got an offer they couldn't refuse from a developer, and they're scouting another Jacksonville Beach location.
