Sunny-day dining doesn’t get much better than this. Arrive early, though, as the lineups can be lethal at this popular seafood shack on False Creek’s Fisherman’s Wharf. That said, it’s well worth the wait, as Gord Martin slings some of Vancouver’s finest fish ‘n’ chips right up the gangplank from the fishing boats bringing in his catch. The orders fly fast for Granville Island beer-battered cod and halibut, oyster po’ boys, and grilled salmon “tacones” with cilantro-spiked salsa and chipotle crema, all served with zesty Pacific Rim coleslaw. Those in the know keep an eye on the specials board for Martin’s hot-and-sour coconut Thai fish chowder. Coveted picnic table seats go fast, but you can always grab a meal to go or find spot to perch along the seawall and take in the picture-postcard view.
