| It's been years since Bob and Mary Jo Sargent transformed an old bank into flora, but their labor of love remains a standout in Arlington's dining scene. An open kitchen injects a little bit of downtown chic into the casually elegant dining room designed by Sandra Fairbank, while chef Sargent, a Boston kitchen veteran, puts his fancy culinary chops in service of surprisingly simple New American stuff---from squash soup drizzled with maple-cider vinaigrette to a rich yet punchy dish of grilled swordfish in macadamia brown butter with gingered sweet potatoes and onion rings to gently retro lemon pudding cake. The wine list is small and well-chosen, as is the tea selection. |
