The Flying Biscuit Cafe Restaurant Review:

Founded by Delia Champion of Delia's Chicken Sausage Stand fame, The Flying Biscuit launched in Candler Park in 1993. Today, it's a franchise operation with locations in multiple states. The bright colors on the walls of each outpost are certain to wake up the weary who may arrive early each morning (it opens at 6:30 a.m. daily). The signature grits aren't stone-ground, but they're a decent companion to properly poached eggs. Biscuits stand somewhere between fluffy Northern style and thinner, crispier Southern style. The Southern Benedict adds pimento cheese to the dish, but the pimento cheese stays too cold against the warm egg. Poached eggs perched atop biscuits and smothered with chicken sausage gravy are plenty for two. Quite good coffee warms everything in its wake. Oatmeal pancakes strike us as a bit heavy, so we prefer the buttermilk pancakes. Turkey hash, bacon, turkey pot roast and turkey meatloaf are the signature items, the latter served with garlic mashed potatoes and tomato sauce. Vegetarians and vegans will enjoy the tofu scramble and the veggie grain burger; the flatiron steak will please carnivores. Dinner-style mains are served alongside all-day breakfast. For dessert, check out the chocolate "biscuit" bread pudding.
