THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Fogao Gaucho Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Fogão Gaucho continues its Brazilian churrascaria tradition. The salad bar selections are generous, but range from very good and properly cooked fat asparagus to indifferent artichokes artfully arranged on a platter. The black beans are beautifully seasoned, while the mussels next to them have been severely overcooked. Don't spend too many calories at this table, or you'll not be able to do justice to the never-ending round of skewered meats and fish that will appear at your table when you turn your round disk to green, signaling a desire for more. The picanha is the most savory, especially if you can snag it rare. You'll use a pair of tiny tongs to grasp the slices of meat as they're carved from the skewered presentations. Lamb is the next best bet, and the sausages are pretty tasty as well. For dessert, we urge the flan, a generous portion that will easily serve two. The wine list is generally disappointing, and the by-the-glass price for the best of the bunch strikes us as extreme ($12). Also located at 1995 Windy Hill Rd. SE, Ste. I, Smyrna, 770-319-7337.
