| Forever Fondue sounds to us like the name of a movie that Liberace might have directed. And we never thought a fondue palace would make it in La Jolla---or anywhere in the world, for that matter. This turned out to be one of the success stories of the 1990s, even managing to make a go of a second floor location that has thwarted many predecessors. It’s not just the long, narrow balcony that looks out on lively Prospect Street and gorgeous La Jolla Cove that keeps guests coming back, but also the all-fondue menu. If you’re going to do this right, go for the four-course extravaganza: a cheese fondue, followed by a good salad; a fondue of meats and vegetables cooked at the table in bubbling broth; and, finally, a chocolate fondue, into which you dip fresh fruit, marshmallows and cake. |
