| Built in 1932, locals are quick to offer a history of The Forge, a Carmel landmark, now interestingly operated as a co-op. You won’t need a local to point out the outdoor stone pit fireplace. It’s the perfect gathering place to escape from the menacing fog. So, too, is a pint of Copper Wall Ale, the house private label. Appetizers are designed with sharing in mind; so pass the Reuben egg rolls. A simple menu of gourmet pizzas and pastas, grilled fish and meats leave out the guesswork. Spot gets his own “Doggie” menu, with some choices fit for humans. Case in point: The “good dog”: six-ounces of grilled New York steak. |
