Yes, it’s an awkward sounding name. But with a little backstory about this bar and restaurant, it will all make sense. There’s been a bar at this address since the 1920s, the previous incarnation was the popular Stoned Crow. After it shut down, a two-year hiatus followed and then, in 2013, the bar formerly known as the Stoned Crow was born. It’s become a quiet Greenwich Village refuge for cheap, stiff drinks and good hamburgers. The house burger is an intriguing and very agreeable mix of beef and chorizo, and the beet-filled veggie burger will even tantalize a carnivore; we also like the wings. Factor in the hip-hop on the hi-fi to go with that drink, and you’ve got a fun, casual destination.
