The Four Swallows Restaurant Review: This Bainbridge Island restaurant feels worlds away, but in reality, it’s only a short ferry ride from Seattle. Stroll a few blocks from the ferry dock and discover a charming historic farmhouse serving a seasonally-inspired menu that changes daily. Begin with duck liver and shallot jam or a bowl of local mussels steamed in Spanish sherry and smoked paprika. For main courses, choices include salmon with sautéed greens and olives, potato gnocchi with hedgehog mushrooms, or apple wood-smoked pork chops with mac ‘n’ cheese. Sweet finishes range from comfort food-style bread pudding with caramel sauce to a rich chocolate torte with chocolate-hazelnut gelato and cocoa nibs. The well-chosen wine list focuses on Northwest varietals. Staff is friendly and professional. Make sure to check the return ferry schedule and allow enough time to walk back to the dock. |
