| The specials change daily at this casual café that packs food to go and a cooking school into a narrow shopping center storefront. Chef Franklin Biggs trained in French cuisine at La Varenne in Paris. Gaze into the glass cases to view a tempting array of salads and sides. Green beans nestle in a confetti of corn, capers and roasted red pepper. Bowtie pasta mixes with pesto, tomato and Asiago cheese. Baby blue salad with spicy pecans, oranges and strawberries is the signature dish. Monday’s chicken potpie or Thursday’s fried green tomato sandwich with goat cheese and peach chutney are tempting lunches. Sweet-tooth types will want to add a peanut butter and pecan brownie or a huge oatmeal cranberry cookie. |
