THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED French 75 Restaurant Review:
Like the other French 75's, the interior of this suburban outpost is as sumptuous with fin de siècle artwork and Art Deco lighting. There is live jazz most nights in the Moroccan-inspired lounge or in the dark bar lit by romantic red glass lamps, candles and a bizarre, but cool inlaid neon table. The menu features decent interpretations of bistro food like short ribs à la Bourguignon, roast chicken and grilled pork tenderloin. Seafood lovers should start with the pricey plateaux de fruits de mer, a luxuriously-stacked silver bowl filled with Pacific oysters, Gulf shrimp, king crab legs and ahi avocado tartare. The “steak frites” menu offers a choice between six cuts of beef and five different sauces, from peppercorn to Roquefort butter to the classic béarnaise. Don't miss the restaurant's trademark chocolate soufflé, which fairly oozes rivulets of Callebaut chocolate. Because this location is near an upscale suburban neighborhood and Irvine’s business district, there’s also a French-inspired kids' menu and an easy in-and-out lunch menu for busy professionals.
