THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The French Hen Restaurant Review: This restaurant shares space with scores of pieces of bric-a-brac and antiques, and sits amid a row of antique shops. The French Hen is owned by Linda Bollea, wife of celebrated professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, and while theres no homage to The Hulk in the restaurant-hes not that old-he often drops by when hes in town. The restaurant has limited hours in the summer and fall, and serves an expanded dinner menu November through May. During the off-season, the emphasis is on croissant sandwiches-tuna salad flavored with dill; curried chicken with pineapple-served with a bowl of soup like French onion or an innovative touch like brie and apples in a bread bowl. Breakfast is limited to omelets or Belgian waffles. But a full bakery case of desserts is always open (and a great choice for takeout with choices that range from fruit cobbler and brownie ala mode to pecan torte and carrot cake). There are also fresh-baked French breads daily, plus muffins and buns. The in-season dinner menu features entrées like breaded chicken breast with a mustard and hollandaise topping and a hearty chicken pot pie. There is also stuffed grouper and filet mignon-all served with homemade garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables.
