Fresco at the Beach is a new twist on an old space. When the aging Santa Barbara institution Citronelle retired its saucepans, Jill and Mark Brouillard---the duo behind the original uptown Fresco---wasted no time in revamping the oceanfront location. The ambience is relaxed yet elegant, and there’s food to match. Mediterranean favorites like pollo al ajillo and bouillabaisse are among the best options on the reasonably-priced menu. Salads such as roasted beets with goat cheese on arugula showcase the region's local produce, and wild catches, like the salmon with a white bean and vegetable cassoulet, shine. Fresco offers a brunch menu on Sundays---a wonderful opportunity for diners to linger while taking in the ocean view. The tapas menu at the bar is updated, and there’s live entertainment Fridays and Saturdays.
