Frita Batidos Restaurant Review: For years, restaurateur, Bravo's Top Chef contestant and cookbook author Eve Aronoff dreamed of fritas---Cuban burgers often made with chorizo and topped with shoestring fries in an egg bun. She also mooned over batidos, tropical milkshakes made with fresh fruit, crushed ice, sweetened milk and, sometimes (though not always), rum. So Aronoff decided to open Frita Batidos. The result is a paean to her love for the Cuban classics and a steadfast approach to using farm-to-table and locally sourced products. Kid-friendly and lively at once, the spot is open seven days a week and serves brunch on the weekends. We find ourselves stopping by for conch fritters, churros, coconut ginger rice and the chorizo, beef, black bean, turkey and fish fritas quite regularly. For brunch, don’t miss the tropical bread pudding and conch hash.
