THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Frontera Mex-Mex Grill Restaurant Review:

This Atlanta-based chain of Mexican restaurants presents not only high quality food, but also friendly and energetic service. The interiors are bright and colorful, decorated with pottery, rugs, silver, fabrics and other home turf artifacts. The basics include good tamales, tostados and burritos, but there's also ceviche with fresh catfish, the melted cheese with chorizo, the beef taquitos and the fish tacos. Menu upgrades have brought on board a chunky rather than smooth home-style guacamole with pico de gallo mixed in, pollo asado (roast chicken), a pair of shrimp dishes (al ajillo, with garlic; and a la diabla, spicy), just to name a few. Among the desserts, we recommend the churros for an unusual and authentic experience, but more familiar flan and sopaipilla also are available. Mariachi music entertains at dinner on Sat. beginning at 6:30 p.m., and on Sun. at brunch from noon to 3 p.m. Various live music takes over Wed.-Thurs. and Sat.-Sun. at dinner. Note: this location serves menudo (tripe soup) on the brunch buffet as well as other more authentic dishes, whereas the brunch at Stone Mountain is more Tex-Mex.
