THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Funky Diner Restaurant Review:
This self-proclaimed “funky” eatery offers enough interesting twists to lend some legitimacy to its name: lavender walls give way to industrial-looking ceiling pipes that run along the long dining room, as a gaggle of tourists, the occasional celebrity, and Upper West Siders settle in for better-than-average “diner” food like a creamy potato-chip-encrusted mac ‘n’ cheese, and sandwiches big enough to feed a village of peasants. The open-face tuna melt, topped with avocado and crammed with aïoli-caper tuna salad and arugula, is a sandwich standout. The selection of rare Belgian beers, however, is good enough to place your order based on what will go best with the beer (and not the other way around). Service is friendly and relaxed.
