Entering Tex-Asian Fuse, you are greeted on one side by a wall of cowboy boots and, on the other, a well-fed Buddha. How appropriate. On the menu, the Tex part makes judicious use of jalapeños, avocados, short ribs and the like, tossed together with bits of Asia like miso, sashimi and edamame. Settle into one of the little dining nooks scattered around the split-level space and start with a bowl of chile-spiked miso soup. The usual suspects show up on the menu of fresh, made-to-order sushi, sashimi and roll choices. The “Casual” dining section offers such delights as hibachi chicken pad thai and ancho-honey pork with a side of “daily mashers.” Meat-and-potato folks will enjoy the juicy beef tenderloin served on mashed potatoes, accompanied by seared Japanese eggplant and smoky chipotle butter. Or dive into grilled ginger-saké salmon, served with traditional spicy cucumber salad, scallion and couscous. Grazers should go for the braised brisket pot stickers served with citrus dipping sauces. For dessert, don't miss the Tahitian vanilla bean french toast with caramelized bananas, Texas pecans and banana ice cream. The hot spot to dine is on the rooftop patio where you just might see a few folks frolicking in the spa.
