THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Fusion Restaurant Review: Proprietors Matt and Jennifer Long (he cooks, she serves) have created a wonderful neighborhood restaurant that looks and feels just a cut above the usual neighborhood hangout. The sleek, modern décor---thanks to gray walls, black and silver banquettes and fabulous, sepia-toned desert photography---is the first step in that sophisticated direction, followed by a contemporary menu that incorporates global ingredients and cooking styles. Regulars may go for something a little out there, such as chorizo-stuffed grape leaves with sweet onions, jalapeños and plum sauce, or maple- and coffee-glazed wild salmon. Meanwhile, those less adventurous can content themselves with crisp, tempura-battered bell peppers (served with spicy, roasted jalapeño aïoli), macaroni and cheese, strawberry shortcake or the best Kobe beef burger (appropriately dubbed The Gladiator) in town. Jennifer keeps the front of the house running smoothly and treats everyone like an old (or new) friend.
