A Stamford hotspot with a hopping scene that holds its own against the trendy spots in Manhattan, g/r/a/n/d, has long been known as a place to see and be seen rather than a place to dine. While boisterous Gen-Xers congregate around the first floor bar and on cozy couches in dark corners, diners are mostly relegated to the glass-railed balcony, on level with the DJ, who keeps the place pulsating until closing time on Fridays and Saturdays. The revamped menu has made g/r/a/n/d not just an after-dinner spot but a place to wine, dine and then stay for the party. The extended small-plates options include Asian-inspired marinated beef lettuce wraps with soy sauce and macaroni and Gruyère with truffles. Large plates feature house-made lobster ravioli in a tomato, cream and burgundy sauce and a light but satisfying yellowfin tuna served with black beans, corn and cilantro. Linger over a pot of chocolate fondue or descend the illuminated steel staircase and lose yourself in the vibrant mix.
